Four Kelso runners travelled to Dunbar to take part in the Belhaven Best Dunbar 10k. Thankfully the rain had stopped by the time the race started but a brisk westerly wind made the going tough in places. The course was scenic but hard going in places, and certainly not one that is likely to produce many PBs. The third mile finishes with a long climb made tougher with a brisk side wind. The three mile marker at the top of the hill was a welcome sight. Running down hill for mile four with a wind behind the runners enabled some to make up time lost on the hill climb. At the bottom of the hill the route turned westwards and into the strong wind making the long straight road hard-going. Thankfully the final mile turned back towards the town and the runners completed the course on tracks and trails.
The Kelso runners were pleased with their times despite the weather conditions. The times were: Stuart Keddie and Jac Neill 49:45, Mick Purves 51:23 and Carole Purves 61:19.

Kelso Crawlers Running Club have made a couple of appearances already this season, firstly at Lasswade 10 mile Race on Sunday 6 March and then at Alloa Half Marathon on Sunday 20 March.
At Lasswade, three Crawlers tackled the tough course which always proves a stiff test at the start of the road running season. Times were: Alastair Martin 82:56, Stuart Keddie 83:49 and Mick Purves 85:04.
The conditions at Alloa were perfect for running with a light drizzle at the start and very little wind on a very exposed course. The following times were recorded: Alastair Martin 1:45:15, Jac Neill 1:47:27 and Lorna Davenport 1:56.26.
The Crawlers are now training for other spring events such as the Edinburgh Half Marathon and the London Marathon.
